Telework news from FierceGovernmentIT

Also referred to as telecommuting, telework allows employees to complete the work of a full-time job from home or other secure locations. The physical commute to work is replaced more and more frequently by communication over web and wire channels.
In May 2010 the Senate passed the Telework Enhancement Act, which granted the ability to federal employees to telework and required managers to draft, document, and oversee telework protocol. The act was signed into law by President Barack Obama in December 2010.
Recently the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) launched telework.gov, a source for guidelines, news releases and resources for training. In April 2011 the OPM released federal telework guidelines in a 41-page document; the guide includes information for telework managers as to administration of practical telework policies.
