DOJ news from FierceGovernmentIT
The United States Department of Justice, also referred to as the Justice Department or the DoJ, is the part of the U.S. government responsible for law enforcement and administration of justice. The head of the DoJ is the Attorney General; the AG is nominated by the president as a member of his cabinet and is confirmed by the Senate.
The fiscal 2011 budget of the DoJ is $27.7 billion and provides funding for 111,998 positions. The requested fiscal 2012 budget is $28.2 billion and would provide for 114,903 positions, and increase of almost 3000 employees and $500 million.
The current CIO of the DoJ's IT-related 2010-2015 plan (ITSP, first introduced in 2002) includes investment into IT hardware, software, and personnel, to improve intelligence and investigation capabilities of the government, and maintain public trust.
