A consultant with a private sector think tank has been working for the last two years to help more veterans get hired in federal information security jobs. The idea is the brain child of Marc Noble, former chief information security officer at the Federal Communications Commission and now the new director of government affairs for (ISC)2.

"They [veterans] are particularly adept, already trained and have security clearances," he tells nextgov.com. "That would be a golden opportunity to take advantage of."

Noble has been working with the Government Advisory Board and the Information Systems Security Association on a plan to bring more veterans into federal information security jobs. The White House is already moving forward with this idea. President Obama declared an executive order to help veterans find work with the federal government.

As part of this program, the Office of Personnel Management has launched a website, FedsHireVets.gov, a clearinghouse for information about employment for veterans.
