USASpending.gov - 10 Hot Sites for Government Transparency

If you ever wanted to get deep in the weeds of information technology spending, we have a site for you. It's called USASpending.gov, and it is the home of the IT dashboard that provides agency-by-agency reporting on how much IT money is being spent and where. The dashboard provides details from agency reports to the Office of Management and Budget.

That includes general information on over 7,000 Federal IT investments and detailed information for nearly 800 of those investments classified by the agencies as "major." The IT Dashboard gives the public a continual view into the details of federal information technology investments and the progress of these investments. It also has charts showing the five top assistance recipients and the five top contractors in 2009.

It asks, "Have you ever wanted to find more information on government spending? Have you ever wondered where federal contracting dollars and grant awards go? Or perhaps you would just like to know, as a citizen, what the Government is really doing with your money."

The details on this site are updated monthly. They include major investments and spending by agency as well as a rating system. Another added feature is a regular blog from Federal Chief Information Officer Vivek Kundra.
