The Justice Department is turning a critical eye at some of the biggest tech companies in the world--Google, Yahoo, Apple, Intel and Microsoft. It is investigating whether these companies violated antitrust laws by agreeing not to hire their competitors' workers. The details of the investigation have not been made public, but a civil or criminal lawsuit could effectively hamper any one of these companies.

The companies reportedly involved in this investigation declined to comment. The Justice department wouldn't comment, either, according to an article in The New York Times.

It's unclear at this time whether the outcome of this investigation would impact any federal agency holding contracts with any one of these companies. But it is likely that existing contracts would continue without a pause.
