Spotlight: Tom Sharpe selected as FAS head


Thomas Sharpe has been named the head of the Federal Acquisition Services at the General Services Administration by acting administer Dan Tangherlini. Sharpe will oversee the acquisition and provision of more than $55 billion in products, services and solutions for federal agencies, said the agency.

The agency says Sharpe has 30 years of experience in both the private sector and government, serving most recently as the Treasury Department's senior procurement executive. At Treasury, Sharpe was in charge of an agency-wide procurement policy and oversight of procurement operations.

Before joining Treasury, Sharpe was a consulting principal at IBM Business Consulting Services for procurement transformation engagements with IBM's commercial and government customers.

Sharpe has also held procurement and managerial positions at the Environmental Protection Agency and Defense Department.
