Thirty federal agencies and departments have submitted preliminary plans to the Office and Management and Budget, for their internal "look back" at federal regulations. Jack Lew, director of OMB, and Cass Sunstein, head of the White House Office of Information and Regulatory Affairs, spoke with members of the media on May 26 to provide an update on a Jan. 18 executive order by President Obama. The order asked agencies to make their regulatory process more transparent, more electronic and less burdensome for businesses that comply with agency regulations. Agency preliminary plans for regulation reviews were due to OMB by May 18. White House officials said the documents are being posted on whitehouse.gov in order to promote transparency and citizen feedback on the proposed regulatory revisions. Listen to the press call
