Spotlight: Canada debuts new open data portal, data license

The Canadian government June 18 unveiled a new open data portal, which contains datasets from more than 20 departments and agencies, as well as improved search and a dedicated space for developers. The portal also allows users to rate and comment on datasets. Canada also released a new open government license, which offers unrestricted re-use of government data and information. The license makes it "easier for users to combine data from different levels government to create richer, more contextualized information and applications," says a statement from the office of the prime minister.
