Recovery.gov gets a makeover
The website charting the results of the Obama administration's stimulus plan was overhauled and launched again on Sept. 28. The revamped site features sophisticated charts and visual elements showing the stimulus spending data and where it's going, advanced search functions, multimedia teaching aids and some downloads.
More will be coming in October, including job statistics resulting from the stimulus spending. The site is part of the Obama administration's transparency promise to show how hundreds of billions of dollars in stimulus spending are being used.
"The new website will be very interactive and user-friendly and will allow the public to find detailed information on projects in their states, congressional districts and even in their own neighborhoods," Earl E. Devaney, chairman of the Recovery Accountability and Transparency Board, said in a press release.
The site is only part of the board's efforts to make things work in its government space. Starting Monday, the board initiated a new toll-free fraud hotline where individuals can report fraud, waste and mismanagement of Recovery funds. Devaney also launched a YouTube video on the site where he discusses the new Recovery.gov, and asks citizens to assist in the Recovery Board's anti-fraud efforts.
The site includes translations in more than 50 languages, feeds from the Federal Business Opportunities website and the application site Grants.gov, among other features.
