Proposed security policy changes still a secret
Classified information is always, well, classified. But it certainly seems that President Obama has promised transparency throughout government, and the public may be waiting for a report that might not materialize.
A task force has been working on recommendations for handling controlled information, but the details have not been made public. A spokesman for the task force said the panel is waiting for guidance from the White House before releasing it, according to an article in nextgov.com.
While this may seem to be deep in the weeds of policy, it goes to the heart of Obama's transparency pledge. The White House told nextgov.com last week that the task force report had been delivered, but had no information on whether it would be made public.
In setting the task force to work, Obama wanted recommendations to deal with the problem of over classification of government documents, as well as ideas of keeping as much in the open as possible.
