A new report says that massive amounts of surveillance imagery and sensor data could overwhelm the military's ability to handle the information. A previously secret report, obtained by the Federation of American Scientists' through the Freedom of Information Act, found that the Pentagon may require new analysis software cloud infrastructure to manage the data.

The report said that data being gathered has become more and more difficult to store and integrate into defense systems. As a result, some members of the defense and intelligence communities have raised concerns that the surveillance data gathered is not useful.

"Seventy percent of the data we collect is falling on the floor," MIT defense research scientist Pete Rustan said, according to the report. The report reflects the concern that if something is not done, the situation will only get worse.
