A new secure Navy site for IT collaboration
The Department of the Navy is making it easier for Navy personnel and their IT staff to collaborate in a new extension of the CIO's website. CIO Robert Carey announced the idea on his blog Monday to create a new way for Navy personnel to communicate securely about some of the most pressing IT issues in their path.
"We need to remove the barriers to participation in order to take the dialogue a step further," Carey wrote. "We are creating a secure extension of the DoN CIO website that will provide common-access-card holders the opportunity to engage the DoN CIO team, as well as others within the department, more directly and candidly than is currently possible on the public website."
Carey, who has been ahead in the IT world with his embrace of social networks, is clearly a CIO to keep an eye on. Not satisfied with the way things have been, he's looking for ideas and input to make things better in this 2.0 world that has enveloped the federal government.
