All NASA personnel can take advantage of their agency's private cloud now, announced the agency in an Oct. 18 blog post.

NASA Cloud Services will remain in pre-release until an operational readiness review is completed in the coming weeks, but NASA workers can nonetheless start signing up for 100 GB storage accounts and get a virtual private network on the Ames Internet Exchange.

NASA has said it developed its cloud--based on what it calls its "Nebula" platform--as an alternative to data centers and a means to rapidly provision resources. Each Nebula container holds up to 30,000 CPU cores, or 30 petabytes, says a NASA article from earlier this year.
