The nation's space agency has worked out deals with Microsoft, Google and Cisco to place its planetary data online.

NASA Ames' CIO Chris C. Kemp says that the space agency will work with its high-tech private partners "to share our data with the world."

He added that NASA has gathered more data about the solar system than any other agency. As part of a new agreement with Microsoft, Kemp said data will be placed on the web through the WorldWide Telescope (WWT) platform.

"In a sense, we are using the context rich environment of WWT through our partnership with Microsoft to provide our audience a window into the universe of data we have gathered and continue to gather with our satellites and telescopes," Kemp wrote in a blog post.
