Military contractors targeted by hackers
U.S. defense contractors beware: Hackers have your number and they are targeting you for attack.
In a blog post this week, the chief research officer security at vendor F-Secure said the company has discovered that malicious PDF files were emailed to defense contractors. The file looked like an official Department of Defense document and contained information that appeared to be legitimate.
But opening the document was the kiss of death. It allowed hackers in the back door. It's unknown who is behind this latest attack but the suspicion is that it originated in China, since it has appeared to be actively engaging in security brushes these days all over the world.
It's unclear how many contractors received these files, but it is an ominous warning sign for anyone handling military business.
