Kundra makes it easier to buy cloud technology

In another great idea from Federal CIO Vivek Kundra, federal agencies will be able to purchase cloud computing technology like they are going to a store at the mall to pick up software. Kundra's idea is to get rid of the 18-month to two-year time frame it now takes to purchase and install new technology at federal agencies.

Federal Computer Week reports that Kundra addressed the Cloud Computing Symposium at the National Defense University with his idea to fast-forward purchases.

"We will abstract all the complexity for agencies so they do not have to worry about federal compliance, certifications and accreditations," Kundra said. "So literally, you'll be able to go in as an agency and provision technology on a real-time basis."
