ISO could come out with digital record guidance in 2011
The International Organization for Standardization will likely release guidance on preservation of digital records, according to a National Archives and Records Administration policy analyst.
Arian Ravanbakhsh, writing on the NARA blog, says that the ISO subcomittee TC46/SC11, which handles archives and records management, is working on releasing "where to start" guide on preserving digital records in 2011.
NARA participates in the technical committee and has recently advised agencies that federal use of social media could create records in need of the full archival treatment, even if the records are hosted on third party websites.
