A new website sponsored by the General Services Administration, the National Academy of Public Administration and the American Council for Technology/Industry Advisory Council is looking for good ideas for improving the acquisition process. Their website is called BetterBuyProject.com, where the public can offer their ideas on using Web 2.0 and social media tools. The GSA will test the best ideas in pilot projects.

The website puts it simply: "The acquisition process--the way government buys goods and services--is among the most complex and least transparent aspects of government."

The project is looking for the best ideas at the pre-contract award stage of the process, one of the toughest areas for contractors to navigate, and even to understand. And one of its goals is to get government talking with the private sector on a host of topics that could help them both move to better services.
