GSA wants a better USA.gov
The General Services Administration wants a new look and better content management capabilities for USA.gov, the federal government's primary public-facing web portal. The new site will make a "big splash" in about 12 months, according to Dave McClure, GSA's recently appointed associate administrator of citizen services and communications
A number of changes are expected, everything from an easier way to apply for government jobs online to getting information on the status of California wild fires. Nevertheless, McClure says, the challenges are complicated. "The challenge is not necessarily putting information online or even accessing it. It's putting information online in a way that's easy to consume and digestible."
McClure is tapping the managers of other federal websites for help in the planning, including those in charge of Recovery.gov, Data.gov, and USASpending.gov.
