A good time to be in the government market
The government' s IT business is looking good, really good, especially in this economic downturn, Microsoft officials said Wednesday. While the stimulus package includes few direct items specifically for IT, there are plenty of signs that IT will have to be embedded into many projects to get the work done right.
That means highway projects will need tech help to keep moving, electronic medical records will need to become more prominent, and tracking the stimulus package carefully to make sure the money is not squandered will need technology, just to name a few areas.
"While there are pressures, this is a time where the opportunity is there to move things forward," said Curt Kolcun, vice president of the U.S. Public Sector for Microsoft. "We can work in partnership to arm you in helping you step up and show elected officials and those in charge of government how technology can really have an impact."
