The debut of Recovery.gov

The curtain will rise on the revamped Recovery.gov site on Oct. 15.

The Recovery Accountability and Transparency Board said the site will publish contracts issued directly by federal agencies by Oct. 15, while grants, state-issued contracts, loans and other forms of assistance will be available for viewing on Oct. 30.

Users will get a peek at the redesigned Recovery.gov at the end of September that includes new features such as its enhanced mapping capacity. As part of the Obama administration's transparency pledge, the Recovery Act requires the recipients of stimulus money to report their spending by Oct. 10.

"This release schedule mitigates the board's concern that large amounts of uncorrected data could actually harm transparency rather than enhance it," said Earl Devaney, Recovery Board chairman.
