Cyber defenders to hone skills in virtual world
The federal cyber soldiers who defend us against virtual attacks need to develop their skills for web security. Now, they will be able to do this on the National Cyber Range, a virtual proving ground to simulate battles and develop virtual weapons to fight our nation's enemies.
The training is part of an effort by Johns' Hopkins University and defense contractor Northrop-Grumman to build the National Cyber Range with the Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency. Like a traditional battle with tanks, bullets and boots, one team will defend a position while another tries to take it. It will let the cyber soldiers develop and test a range of weapons, and develop defenses against them.
