Cloud computing a state CIO priority
Virtualization and cloud computing are the first and second highest priority technologies that state chief information officers say they'll have to deal with in the coming year.
That's according to the result of an annual survey conducted by the National Association of State Chief Information Officers; NASCIO released the survey results Oct. 19.
Also listed in the top 10 (click for a full list) is security enhancement tools, at number seven; and social media, which barely makes the list and number 10.
As for state CIOs' top 10 management concerns for 2011, consolidation/optimization is the first with budget and cost control in second place (click for a full list).
"Clearly, the priorities this year are a mirror image of the current challenges state government is facing," said NASCIO President and West Virginia Chief Technology Officer Kyle Schafer in a prepared statement.
