Almost every day, there are new studies showing where the money from the economic stimulus package is heading. And Wednesday was no exception. The newest study from IDC Industry Insights identified $2.5 billion for federal agencies for technology.

And while the numbers vary depending on which study, the bottom line is that much more money will be flowing into federal agencies to create new tech programs and expand existing ones. Here are some of the programs getting the money, according to the survey:

* The Social Security Administration's (SSA) National Computer Center data center modernization, $500 million.

* The SSA's claims processing program, $490 million.

* The Homeland Security Department data center, law enforcement communications, $340 million.

And the IDC report had some pointed advice for the vendor community: "This once-in-a-lifetime flood of new technology money requires a new way of finding and following opportunities...Due to the aggressive timeline, success will not come from the traditional business development via relationships and [requests for proposals]."
