You're probably more tired of President Obama's BlackBerry travails than you are, say, of the White House dog or the Obama children's swing set. But it's a story that every federal CIO has to pay attention to, especially in those agencies where classified information is the order of the day.

For sure, CIOs have bosses in government these days who cannot exist without a BlackBerry and whose work is chock full of classified information. I can think of a few CIOs who are facing this problem--at the Justice Department, for instance, or the Defense Department, or the CIA.

So it might be a good idea to see exactly how White House security officials dealt with Obama's demand. The information has been coming out slowly, but check out this CIO column for details on the instrument that may meet the needs of your cabinet secretary, too.
