Top engineers from the Army Communications-Electronics Research, Development, and Engineering Center spoke to reporters from the LandWarNet conference in Tampa, Fla.

The engineers, Giorgio Bertoli and Stephen Lucas, talked about adapting to changing technology including social networking, wireless infrastructure and IPv6. Bertoli noted that he wasn't worried about social networking's threat to information security, but that it could threaten operational security unless users are trained not to reveal crucial information.

He also said that "everything is IPv6-compatible" but that the transition is "not on the horizon" yet.
