SPOTLIGHT: Army skips Windows 7, upgrades to Vista

Maybe the Army knows something that has eluded many computer users. With Microsoft's Windows 7 to be released in October, and many of its computers using Windows XP, the Army is making an unusual move. It will skip Windows 7, and upgrade its XP equipment to Vista by Dec. 31. The Army has 744,000 desktop computers, most of which run on Windows XP. Army officials cited the need to beef up Internet security and standardize its information systems as primary reason for selecting the Vista upgrade. Article
