Are insiders stoking unreal cybersecurity fears?
It's hard to know exactly what's going on with the federal government and cybersecurity these days. There's lots of talk. There were the July 4th hack attacks. There is concern that not enough is being done, but just what should be done and how to do it remain significant questions.
Jim Harper, the director of information policy studies at The Cato Institute, a libertarian think tank, says Washington officialdom, contractors and pundits are painting a false, doomsday scenario if federal government IT assets aren't quickly secured.
In an interview with govinfosecurity.com, he explains why. And he claims that cyber terrorism does not exist, that it is a creation of Washington insiders.
