Powerwave’s Jake MacLeod to Be Featured Panelist at Homeland Security for Networked Industries 2010 Show
Wireless Industry Veteran Shares Experience in Rebuilding Baghdad Telecom Infrastructure to Counsel on Best Practices for Disaster Preparedness, Emergency Response and Rebuilding
SANTA ANA, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)-- Powerwave Technologies, Inc. (NASDAQ:PWAV), a global leader in end-to-end wireless coverage and capacity solutions, today announced that Jake MacLeod, vice president of Powerwave’s government solutions business, will speak at the Homeland Security for Networked Industries (HSNI) 2010 conference and expo.
HSNI 2010, held at the Park Hyatt in Washington D.C. Sept. 20-21, will bring together network security professionals with a common purpose of protecting the nation’s critical infrastructure networks. Conference topics address the need for cross-industry collaboration and communication between critical infrastructure industries and local, state and federal government – with a focus on three major areas: telecommunications, utilities and transportation.
MacLeod will be speaking on Sept. 21 at 11:30 a.m., lending his expertise to a discussion focused on “The Emergency Management Lifecycle: From Disaster Preparedness to Emergency Response and Rebuilding.” During this session, MacLeod will describe his experience in 2003 leading efforts across Baghdad to revamp the Iraqi telecoms network and to design and replace 12 wire centers (equivalent to 240,000 POTS lines) in a period of 120 days – an unprecedented achievement in telephony. Working under contract for the U.S. and required to debrief the Pentagon, his team subsequently went on to replace the Air Traffic Control System at Baghdad International Airport.
MacLeod will be joined by Tanya Lin-Jones, manager, ERT Operations, Sprint Emergency Response Team; industry analyst Charles Kolodgy of IDC will moderate the session.
Jake MacLeod’s career in telecommunications spans more than 30 years, throughout which he helped pioneer advances in both the wire line and wireless industries. He serves on numerous industry boards of directors – including The Alliance for Telecommunications Industry Solutions (ATIS) and Telecommunications Industry Association (TIA) – and is vice chair of the Communications Research Division of the TIA. MacLeod was named one of the top ten CTOs in the D.C. area in the government contracting industry by ExecBiz Magazine in 2009, and is a regularly featured speaker at numerous wireless industry events each year. He holds a bachelor’s degree from the University of Texas in Austin.
