Leading Provider of Cloud-Based Federal Financial Management Earns Data Security Designation
July 29, 2011, Reston Va. Global Computer Enterprises, Inc. (GCE), a leading provider of Cloud-based financial management services for Federal government agencies, announced today that it is among the first companies in the country to earn a key data security and control certification: compliance with the newly-released Statement on Standards for Attestation Engagements No. 16 (SSAE 16), Reporting on Controls at a Service Organization.
SSAE 16 is the authoritative guidance for evaluating whether service providers that host data have appropriate controls in place. Finalized in January 2010 by the Auditing Standards Board of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA) and effective on June 15, 2011, SSAE 16 is the updated, more stringent version of the Statement of Auditing Standards No. 70 (SAS 70).
SSAE 16 goes far beyond SAS 70, requiring scrutiny of control designs, objectives, and implementation. Compliance certifies that GCE's processes and procedures have been formally tested by an independent accounting firm.
"As a financial management service provider for Federal agencies and a steward of critical government financial data, GCE takes its commitment to information security very seriously," said Ray Muslimani, founder and CEO of GCE.
"An SSAE 16 audit assures our Federal government clients that not only is our system secure, but our internal controls are also sound," Muslimani continued. "Having this certification in place means that our customers' auditors can rely on our controls-saving a significant amount of time and effort when agencies undergo their annual financial statement audits."
